Faeth Therapeutics was founded in 2019 by Pulitzer Prize-winning oncologist Siddhartha Mukherjee (Columbia), Lewis Cantley (Weill Cornell's Meyer Cancer Center, discoverer of PI3K), and Karen Vousden (Francis Crick Institute / Cancer Research UK). The three co-founders concluded that "precision nutrition" was an untapped treatment modality in cancer care, designing metabolically-engineered diets to withhold key nutrients from tumors when combined with existing drugs. Anand Parikh joined as CEO to operationalize the company.
Sensei Biotherapeutics announced the acquisition of Faeth Therapeutics alongside a $200M concurrent private placement to advance Faeth's PIKTOR program in endometrial and breast cancer.
Faeth's Phase 2 DICE trial of oral sapanisertib plus chemotherapy demonstrated a 34% reduction in disease progression risk in ovarian cancer, justifying a Phase 3 design.
Faeth's Phase 1b PIKTOR + paclitaxel combination showed an 80% overall response rate in endometrial cancer and ~11-month median PFS, driving Phase 2 plans.
Faeth and the GOG Foundation launched the first Phase 2 combination trial of sapanisertib-serabelisib (PIKTOR) with paclitaxel in patients with endometrial cancer.
Faeth closed a $47M Series A led by S2G Ventures to advance its precision-nutrition approach in oncology, bringing total funding to $67M.
