Modern Health was founded in San Francisco in 2017 by Alyson Friedensohn (CEO) and Erica Johnson. Friedensohn previously led partner point-solution integrations at Collective Health, where she saw firsthand that no vendor was taking a holistic approach to workplace mental health. Johnson, a neurobiology researcher and engineering leader at Stanford and UCSF, brought the technical expertise to build the platform. The company went through Y Combinator and grew rapidly to serve hundreds of enterprise customers globally.
