Founded in 2010 in Oakland, California by AJ Shankar, a Berkeley computer science Ph.D., who set out to modernize the slow, on-premise ediscovery tools used by litigators. The company stayed lean for years before raising venture capital and ultimately reaching unicorn status in 2021.
