Vapi was founded by Jordan Dearsley and Nikhil Gupta, classmates from the University of Waterloo who previously built productivity startup Superpowered through Y Combinator. They pivoted to voice AI infrastructure, launching Vapi publicly on Product Hunt in March 2024 after recognizing that phone calls remained a primary enterprise customer interaction channel ripe for AI automation.
Vapi closed a $50M Series B led by Peak XV Partners at ~$500M valuation, with M12, Kleiner Perkins, and Bessemer participating.
Vapi announced that its platform has processed over 1 billion calls and achieved 10x enterprise ARR growth, demonstrating massive scale in AI voice infrastructure.
