Cogent Security was founded in 2024 in San Francisco by Vineet Edupuganti (CEO), Geng Sng (CTO), and Thanos Baskous (VP Engineering). The founders met as engineers and security practitioners at companies including Abnormal AI, Coinbase, and Blackstone, where they spent years on vulnerability remediation, and built Cogent inside Greylock's Edge incubator to apply AI agents to that workload.
